Artist – Jennifer Shuey

Julie’s Coffee will host pastel artist Jennifer Shuey as their guest for May’s First Friday.  The exhibition titled, “Cherished Landscapes” will open with a reception from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.  The show will run through the end of June.

Shuey is the Executive Director of ClearWater Conservancy of Central Pennsylvania and a native of Centre County.  She is a graduate of Bellefonte High School, with a B.S. of Landscape Architecture from Penn State University. She is particularly interested in conserving the beautiful natural landscapes of Central Pennsylvania and engaging more people in the protection of the land and water resources.

Shuey’s journey into the local arts community started with an oil painting class through the Art Alliance of Central Pennsylvania. Later at an artist’s retreat at Hameau Farm, she borrowed some pastels, experimented with this new medium, and fell in love with the vibrant colors and with its ability to quickly capture the true beauty and character of the natural landscape.

She is a signature member and the Treasurer of the Central Pennsylvania Pastel Society and serves as the Treasurer on the Board of Directors of the Art Alliance of Central Pennsylvania.  Her work has graced many regional juried art shows over the years.  She believes in giving back to non-profit and community organizations and often does so by donating her own artwork to raise money for ClearWater Conservancy, Millbrook Marsh Nature Center, the Spring Creek Chapter of Trout Unlimited among many others.
